Cree Translation Services

NATIONS isn’t your typical Indigenous language translator. As Canada’s largest 100% Indigenous owned translation services provider, we don’t just speak the languages of First Nations communities, we’re a part of those communities.

Our team offers translations in 34 Indigenous languages, including six Cree dialects:

  • Cree (Plains)

  • Cree (Swampy)

  • Cree (Woodland)

  • East Cree/Coastal Cree Quebec

  • James Bay Cree/Moose Cree

  • Michif Cree/Métis Cree

Cree is Canada’s most widely spoken Indigenous language, used by First Nations communities in every province and from coast to coast. The 2016 census reported around 96,000 active speakers.

If your organization wants to reach First Nations communities with inclusive communications, you need a Cree translator who doesn’t just have linguistic expertise but also understands the cultural context. NATIONS has a long history of working with public and private sector clients to enhance their outreach to Indigenous audiences through high-quality translation services.

Most recently, we were proud to translate the Royal Bank of Canada’s Indigenous Partnership Report, helping RBC reach a wide audience of Indigenous speakers and amplifying Indigenous voices.

Indigenous Language Translator

With a well-established reputation for high quality translations and exceptional customer service, it’s no wonder NATIONS is the preferred provider of many of Canada’s public sector institutions

We’ve worked with teams at every level of government - municipal, provincial and federal - to deliver quality translations that meet the public sector’s need for accuracy, responsiveness, and security.

Our team provides translations from Canada’s official languages of French and English into Cree and other Indigenous languages. NATIONS professional translation services include:

  • Real-time translation & interpreting for government events

  • Website translation and other digital content

  • Translation of technical & regulatory documents

  • On-Demand Over-The-Phone Interpretation

  • Multimedia translation

  • Standalone translation services

At NATIONS, every project is overseen by a dedicated project manager who works with clients to ensure we’re meeting their needs at every stage. Translation requests are processed through our secure portal and assigned to a translator who is perfectly suited for that particular task - having the know-how and experience to deliver a translation that doesn’t just replace one language for another but takes into account cultural nuances and context.

We understand that there’s more to translation than language. Our public sector clients need transparent and seamless workflows so they can be confident each project is delivered on time and within budget.

NATIONS combines human expertise with the latest technology tools to transform the translation process, offering some of the fastest turnaround times in the industry without sacrificing accuracy for speed.

After 30+ years in the language services sector, we know that tools change. NATIONS isn’t afraid to embrace those changes so we can stay ahead of the trends and offer our clients the best translation services available.

We were the first Canadian language services provider to use Robotic Process Automation in our workflows, enabling us to more efficiently process client requests by automating time-consuming manual tasks. Our technology toolkit also includes Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning software that helps us maximize our resources to better handle large volumes of data - resulting in faster, more efficient service for our clients.

This also allows us to quickly process even rushed, ad hoc, translation requests, ensuring these speedy jobs meet the same high standards of accuracy and precision.

Of course, machines can’t do everything. Indigenous language translations require a nuanced approach that only human translators can provide. That’s why NATIONS’ talented linguists are involved at every stage, driving quality assurance with combined machine and human editing of all translated materials.

In working with large volumes of government data and material, we’re experienced at handling these sensitively and adhering to all security protocols.  We’ve obtained the following ISO standards:

  • ISO 27001:2013 – Information Security Management Systems

  • ISO 17100:2015-05 – Translation Services

  • ISO 18587:2017 – Translation Services – Post-Editing – AI Machine Translation

NATIONS has also achieved a number of professional certifications, awarded by independent adjudicators and revised in line with evolving benchmarks. These include the gold standard of language services - CAN/CGSB-131.10, the Canadian National Standard for translation service providers.
